National Auctioneers Week 2026

National Auctioneers Week (NAW) 2026 will be held Monday, April 27 through Saturday, May 2, 2026

Purpose and Significance

National Auctioneers Week is an annual celebration held during the week before the first Saturday in May to honor the role of auctioneers in communities across the United States. It promotes the auction method — an ancient yet still widely used way to buy and sell goods — and highlights how professional auctioneers help sellers achieve the best possible prices while creating an engaging, fair, and efficient sales process National Day Today.

The National Auction Association (NAA) uses this week to:

  • Recognize the diverse roles of auctioneers in real estate, equipment, fundraising, and specialty auctions.

  • Educate buyers, sellers, and the public about the auction method.

  • Showcase the professionalism, transparency, and efficiency of the auction industry National Auctioneers Association.

History

Auctioneering dates back to ancient times, with the first-known auctions in Babylon around 500 B.C., where women were displayed and sold to the highest bidder. The practice spread to the Romans, who auctioned slaves and property, and later to America in the 1600s, where it was used to sell crops, livestock, and even people National Day Today.

2026 Highlights

  • Dates: April 27 – May 2, 2026

  • National Auctioneers Day: Saturday, May 2, 2026 — a special day within the week to salute auctioneers nationwide National Day Today.

  • Promotion: The NAA offers a PR toolkit for professionals, companies, and state associations to help promote the week National Auctioneers Association.

  • Industry Collaboration: In past years, NAW has partnered with organizations like the Livestock Marketing Association and the National Auto Auction Association to highlight the auction industry’s reach across sectors Newswire.

National Auctioneers Week 2026 is a chance to celebrate the skill, expertise, and community impact of auctioneers, while promoting the auction method as a vital part of the U.S. economy.
